The last three ways in which the Special Verbs diffe from other verbs are as follows:-

1) They are used when we wish to be emphatic about something. For example,

"My husband will be pleased to see you after all these years. I do wish the children would not make so much noise. I should but I won't."

If the sentence is in the negative, we emphasize the word "not". For example,

"My husband will not be pleased to see you after all these years. I shall not be late. We need not go if we don't want to."
